hMSC describes Amplify ($160) as its “powerhouse” serum. Indeed, it is so powerful that I use it every other evening (although hMSC directs that it can be used once or even twice a day). This is a brightening, rejuvenating and firming serum and I have been getting exactly those results.
It contains hMSC’s signature mesenchymal and fibroblast growth factors and so much more, including an impressive array of peptides and some interesting botanicals. Due to the inclusion of retinol, I opted to use this serum at night and as it gives a warming, slightly tingling sensation, I didn’t want to overdo it and encourage my sensitive skin to react. Those who tolerate retinol and AHAs well, are likely able to get the benefits of daily use.
However, I wasn’t frustrated by my judicious regimen – my skin is looking smooth and clear. I am especially pleased with the impact on the lines around my lips. I should also note that I use it nightly on my neck, which is definitetly smoother as a result. I am really enjoying hMSC’s Serum and both are very welcome additions to my regimen.
The peptides include the neuropeptide SY-NAKE, the collagen booster Syn-Coll and Dermaxyl (a blend of palmitoyl hexapeptide-12, based on six amino acids that interact with cell membranes to boost their renewal and ceramide NG). There’s also copper peptides based on two amino acids. Other heavy hitters include niacinamide, a stable form of vitamin C and ubiquinone.
Snow mushroom is quietly gaining a reputation as an “IT” ingredient. This botanical extract holds 500 times its weight in water. That is less than hyaluronic acid, but it is an impressive amount and snow mushroom (tremella fuciformis) has other benefits, including small molecules, inhibition of melanin production, 18 different amino acids and it is even a source of vitamin D.
What I like about Amplify is that my money is going tons of actives. The formula is almost devoid of fillers and even the penetration enhancer is a nice one derived from black pepper. The only thing to dislike is the preservative phenoxyethanol.
